The law looks like a joke in front of the rich people. Amazed by how corrupted this system is.
I'm starting to understanding why are there so many super heroes in the movies and comics, it's because the law had failed to protect the innocent.

We have a local drug dealing Doctor here in Tucson. Search Healthcare Southwest Doctor David Ruben. There are legal documents online where he is trying to justify prescribing 8X80mg oxy per day. There is a real damning statement from a Pharmacist that blew the whistle on him. I ask if this in inappropriate to inform the public about these legal documents that are online for all to read and come to their own conclusions?

really confusing to me....when we go after the drugs cartels; we treat them like the scum that they are. richard sackler is, in essence, the head of a major cartel and yet we continue to allow him and his family to traipse around, poison our people, breathe our air; why the fuck isn't this fat fuck in jail?

That dumb ass brit is only covering one piece of the puzzle. Those companies are not invading Afghanistan to collect all the poppy. They are just selling the Poppy that was stolen by the US and British militaries from Afghanistan. The poppy plant, more specifically the opium poppy or Papaver somniferum, is used to produce opiates. Opiates have been used successfully to control pain, but they are also abused because of their mind-altering effects. The opiates that come from the poppy plant include morphine, opium, heroin, and codeine.

Afghanistan's opium poppy harvest produces more than 90% of illicit heroin globally, and more than 95% of the American & European supply
. The real people at fault are the politicians that allowed those invasions to take place in order to control drug distribution globally. The companies selling the drugs and giving a cut to the politicians. They should all go to JAIL NOW if there is such a thing as justice in this world

I actually take painkillers as I have leg bones that healed incorrectly. I need painkillers to walk but my pharmacy provides me with *NON-addictive* pills for these reasons and suggest exercising everyday to make it so I don't need the pills. I started off needing double doses twice a day. Now I usually only need one a day on a bad week.

If a doctor prescribed Vicodin for post operative pain, and the patient then became addicted to heroine it would be considered fairly ridiculous to blame the manufacturer and marketing people right?
What DOCTOR Richard Sackler and family did was mask, hide, camouflage, lie, and use any other deceitful practice available with their already vast fortune to INTENTIONALLY market the most highly addictive pain medication in history!
That drug has destroyed lives, and the aggressive marketing is no less than a premeditated action to the degree that premeditated murder should at least be considered! I know the legal elements would not be met, but at least considered is what I'm saying!
I now have no doubt that at least one person with their confirmation bias will chime in with a comment to the effect that nobody forced these people to take OxyContin! After all this is a capitalist society right?

I'm from Kentucky and my dad is a former addict of opioids that started after oxy so the fact that this family was able to pay some money and walk away makes me angry. Most of all how this man doesn't even know that he and his family has almost single-handedly destroyed eastern Kentucky and doesn't care really angers me.

And yet when I seriously injured my foot and ankle, I was in legitimate severe pain, could not walk and was openly weeping due to the multiple ripped tendons and ligaments, I could not get anyone to give me a damn Vicodin prescription. My foot and ankle was red, tender, and very swollen yet none of the doctors believed I was in enough pain. Enough pain?!? The doctors are so scared of the opioid epidemic now it’s going the other way. So Oliver’s next video will be about people NOT getting the prescriptions they need.
bapfreak
bapfreak - 15 दिन पहले
Yeah, real cute. Sure, there are addicts but there are also people in legitimate long term pain. Denying or reducing pain medication is tantamount to torture. Read "A Nation in Pain" written by a doctor who experienced neglect as a pain patient. I like a lot of John Oliver's older episodes for being logical and fair. This comedian, the DEA, and legislature needs to feel never ending pain. NSAIDs, steroid injections, chiropractic treatment, message therapy, physical therapy, yoga, and even surgery only go so far. Yeah, pain doesn't kill people's bodies, only their mind and soul so it's not really important.

Once again, a video about the opioid crisis completely misses the point. Saying that prevalence of drugs causes addicts is like saying social media causes eating disorders (yes they are influences but there's much more to it). We should absolutely hold people like the Sacklers accountable for their overwhelmingly horrid and enabling actions. But the opioid epidemic will not stop by finger wagging at suppliers. It stops by supporting addictions treatment and preventative care. It might sound weird but not everybody who takes a drug becomes addicted to it. There often must be deep unhealed emotional and psychological injury for someone to become susceptible to addictions. If you can see the opioid crisis as epidemic of emotional wounds and learn to treat it, then you can control the crisis through support programs, addictions treatment, therapy and preventative care. There is life after addiction and recovery is possible. The people I have met in addictions recovery are some of the kindest, most compassionate, sensitive and strong people I have ever met.
Edit: grammar

John Oliver, you need to to an Opioid III episode that sheds light on us overlooked chronic pain patients. We've been collateral damage on the fight on the opioid crisis. So many of us are suffering because of the government overreach. As a disabled veteran, I must help spread the word about my fellow brothers and sisters. They are committing suicide because of their pain medication being taken away. The VA is pushing hypnosis, yoga, and aroma therapy to treat people for pain. No form of hypnosis is going to relieve me of pain from four enlarged discs, two that are torn. My mother, who is suffering from colon cancer, is being pressured to reduce her medication, that she now has to drive a four hour round trip monthly, because the DEA is pressuring doctors.

Slight correction. That old school cocaine medicine came in a gum gel. You rub it on your gums and both they and the teeth go numb. So, it does basically the same thing, but instead of a numb nostril/throat, nasty nasal drip and constant sniffing, you just have numb gums and teeth and a godawful taste in your mouth. Snorting isn't the only way to consume cocaine, John.

Samhhain Cat I’m Australian so I’m incredibly well supported in my healthcare needs ❤️🇦🇺 Also the people that would blame me are sad people who don’t understand the nature of degenerative spinal diseases.. You mean you have a healthcare system to support you in your medicine regimen? What a concept. Too bad Americans can't seem to get it through their fucking heads and instead blame the sick person. There are people in this very comment section that would blame you for getting the injury in the first place.

It’s the system to blame, your Doctors and Pharmacists, they are the ones with the professional responsibility to ensure to appropriate use. The drug companies wouldn’t have done it so easily without their lack of care. In Britain there are no drug ads on TV, most GPs are too busy to bother with salespeople, and there is more central purchase and monitoring. Patients themselves have not used common sense. Drugs here are free or minimal cost to the patient we don’t seem to have quite the same problem. Doctors find it easier to say no. I have only ever been given an opiate when in hospital for a couple of days after a back operation, I didn’t get given any to come out with.

Fun fact: Cocaine has the rare quality of being an analgesic (pain relief) that is a vasoconstrictor (reduces blood flow). So some ENT and maxillofacial surgeons still use it, due to the vascular nature of facial injuries.
